This one's for fans of photography.
One of the greats, the late Richard Avedon, is having a showing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, through November 23rd. Avedon was an iconic American fashion and portrait photographer, whose work frequently graced the covers of Harper's Bazaar, Vogue and Elle magazines. He specialized in capturing movement in still pictures of fashion, theater and dance.
Richard Avedon: Murals consists of rare, life-size photomurals of preeminent artists, activists and politicians of the twentieth century...some as wide as 35 feet. The images span everything from the architects of the Vietnam war--and the demonstrators against it--to portraits of the members of Andy Warhol's infamous Factory.
The New York Times calls it, "A milestone in image-making." The New Yorker describes it as, "Tough, intelligent and vivid."
High praise, indeed.
Tickets are $30 for adults, $22 for seniors and $17 for students.
