Much like the sounds of chirping birds (yes, even here in New York City), the New York Botanical Garden's Orchid Show just screams, "Spring is coming!" to locals.
From now through April 19th, the folks at NYBG will present Jeff Leatham's Kaleidoscope.
So who is Jeff Leatham?
He's the famed artistic director of the Four Seasons Hotel George V; his side gig is as flower designer to the single-named stars, such as Cher, Oprah and Dolly. These ladies can afford the best, so this 18th edition of the show should be killer.
Jeff has transformed each gallery of the observatory into a different color experience and visual effect, likened to the turn of a kaleidoscope. Purple, hot pink, red, orange...every color of the rainbow will be represented in the thousands of orchids that will be on display. Mirrored sculpture and dramatic lighting will round out the kaleidoscope effect.
Check out the dates for Orchid Evenings, when visitors can take in the glory of the gardens while sipping cocktails and nibbling on yummy treats brought in by the Bronx Night Market.
Tickets are $23 on weekdays and $30 on weekends. Orchid Nights will run you $39 (but, hey, cocktails) and visitors must be 21. The NYBG advises folks to order tickets in advance, since events do sell out.
Happy Tuesday, friends!
