One thing we love about our fair city is the number of museums that have flat-out free or at the very least pay-as-you-wish hours, making them accessible to everyone.
Here's a quick reference guide on the whens and wheres to get bargain admissions:
American Museum of Natural History - New York, New Jersey & Connecticut visitors pay what they wish
The Guggenheim - pay what you wish Saturdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The Jewish Museum - free all day Saturday, pay what you wish Thursdays 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Museum of Arts & Design - 2 for 1 tickets on Thursday between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Metropolitan Museum of Art - pay what you wish for New York State residents
Morgan Library & Museum - free on Fridays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m
MoMA - free Fridays 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
New York Historical Society - pay what you wish Fridays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
New Museum of Contemporary Art - pay what you wish Thursdays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Queens Museum - every day is pay what you wish
Museum of the City of New York - every day is pay what you wish
Rubin Museum of Art - free Fridays from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Fotografiska - Frontline workers get in for free.
Brooklyn Museum - free first Saturday of the month from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Bronx Museum of the Arts - always free
Children's Museum of Manhattan - free the first Friday of the month from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The Frick Collection - free the first Friday of the month from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Hispanic Society of America - free always
Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology - free always
Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art - free always
Whitney Museum of American Art - pay what you wish Fridays from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Studio Museum in Harlem - free on Sundays
American Folk Art Museum - always free
El Museo del Barrio - free the third Saturday of the month (every Wednesday for seniors), pay what you wish always
