So, what'cha doing next Saturday? If you're free, why not join a few thousand New Yorkers for the annual Cupid Undie Run?
Don't worry...you won't have to run very far. Or, frankly, at all (seriously, who's going to bust you for not running in your skivvies?), but if you're game to go the distance, it's less than a mile through the city.
Check-in is at noon at the DL bar on the Lower East Side and the race begins at 2 p.m.; the whole thing lasts until 4 p.m. To give you an idea as to how badly you will freeze your arse off, the average time the organizers have calculated to complete the course is 15 minutes. (A quick weather check shows it will be partly sunny and 46F/7C the day of.) But don't worry if you're slow, or, if, in fact, you barely trot (see "who's going to bust you?" at the top of this paragraph).
And guess what--there's a party at the end of the run! Celebrants can dance and down cocktails to warm up back at the DL until 4.
Tickets are $40. The good news is this silliness will benefit charity: the nekkid cupids are all raising funds to find a cure for neurofibromatosis (NF), a genetic tumor disorder that affects 1 in every 3,000 births.
(As an added bonus, runners who raise $250 will get open bar privileges at the after party, a t-shirt and, of course, some undies.)
So if you want to help kids and have a great time doing it, head here to register.
I think we're going to pass this year. Too many chocolate mousse cakes at North Square.
