We can't believe that twenty-three years have gone by. All those that were lost to us on 9/11 are still in our hearts, and will be forever.
Tribute in Light, the beams of blue light in the shape of the Twin Towers, will be visible from dusk to dawn on Wednesday, the 11th. (Washington Square Park is a great location to view it.)
In addition to the lights, there are other events around the city commemorating that fateful day.
The Table of Silence Project 9/11 is a free performance (and call to action for peace) at Lincoln Center. More than 150 dancers will circle the Revson Fountain to create an ancient Peace Labrynth to the sounds of electric violins, flutes, bass drums, trumpets, bells, along with a chorus. Start time is 8:10 AM on the 11th.
Those wanting to give back should head to The Intrepid on the 11th and 12th for the 9/11 Day of Service, in which groups from across the city will pack 2,000,000 meals for those in need.
The 9/11 Memorial & Museum itself is closed that day, but will be open the rest of the week. Visitors can peruse artifacts, historical records, firefighting equipment and more. Admission is $33 for adults, $27 for seniors, college students and young adults 13-17, and $21 for kids 7 - 12.
