Oh, but you're a brave one, venturing out to the center of the world to ring in 2024!
Times Square has been hosting this party-to-end-all-parties for 120 years, ever since the owners of One Times Square began to conduct rooftop celebrations in 1904. (The first ball drop occurred in 1907).
For the intrepid amongst us, here's the skinny:
The fun starts at 6 PM, but if you plan to attend, get there as early as possible! Revelers begin to gather in the afternoon, as space is only available on a first-come, first-served basis. Access points are at 48th, 52nd and 56th Streets on 6th and 8th Avenues. (Best viewing spots are along Broadway, from 43rd to 50th St. and Seventh Ave., as far north as 59th St.) Beware, as you'll be surrounded by 1.000,000 people (no, that's not a typo). And by surrounded, we mean squished. One thing to remember is that when nature calls, you can't get back in. (Alas, there are no public toilets.)
Performers this year include Flo Rida, Paul Anka, Megan Thee Stallion, Tyla, Sabrina Carpenter, Jelly Roll, Maria Becerra and Yng Lvcas. The official Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest show begins at 8 PM and will last until 2024 begins.
Honestly? It might be better to stay in your room and turn on ABC to watch Seacrest or CNN to catch bosom buddies Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen, and drink to your good fortune not to be freezing your ass off!
