Holiday Fun at NYBG

The New York Botanical Gardens, that is.

The Holiday Train Show has been a beloved tradition for New Yorkers for over 30 years. And believe us when we tell you that it is a not-to-be-missed event, for kids and grownups alike. More than 25 trains of all sorts, like steam engines and street cars, chug through nearly a half-mile of track through a miniature New York City. You’ll see replicas of more than 200 local iconic buildings and structures, like the Brooklyn Bridge, Yankee Stadium, Rockefeller Center, One World Trade Center, the Statue of Liberty and more, all constructed from natural materials such as pine cones, acorns and seeds. The trains will be zipping around the tracks through January 15th.

In addition, on select evenings, head to the gardens for GLOW, when the historic, architecturally to-die-for buildings will be aglow in vibrant colors, with brightly lit paths and trees, illuminated plants and whimsical installations. Thousands of dazzling LEDs will create a colorful wonderland, perfect for an evening stroll.

Special Bar Car Nights, with cocktails for purchase, are available for folks 21+ on December 14th and January 5th.

There are also a few food options in the gardens, like farm to table dining at the Hudson Garden Grill and more casual fare at the Pine Street Café.

Tickets for the train show are $35 for adults, $31 for students and seniors and $20 for kids 2-12. GLOW tix will run you $54 for adults and $39 for the kiddos, and Bar Car Nights cost $54.
