This idyllic expanse is located between 13th and 14th Streets in Hudson River Park--close to the hotel--and is the perfect outdoor space to enjoy the city in the summer.
Little Island hosts music, dance, theater and opera productions, beginning in June and lasting all summer long.
Visitors can choose between two venues:
The Amph overlooks the Hudson River, and hosts music (everything from opera to funk) and dance productions (Twyla Tharp is premiering How Long Blues, featuring music by T Bone Burnett). Tickets are $25. The Glade is a more intimate performance space that looks out on a vast lawn, and there, Wednesday through Sunday, you can laugh at stand-up comedy, groove to some live jazz, take in a cabaret performance and more--for free! Seating is on a first come, first served basis, and no tickets are required.
And the kids won't be left out. Crazy games like spinning discs, dance chimes and spun chairs are on tap, along with classic jump ropes and hula hoops.
Casual food is available for purchase, and runs the gamut from hot dogs to sandwiches to salads and more. And yes, beer and wine, too. (Because, seriously, would we steer you wrong? Priorities, people!)
Events will run through the beginning of September, so there's plenty of time to catch at least one.
