Jazz lovers, listen up!

The Winter Jazz Fest starts on Thursday (January 9) and runs through next Wednesday (the 15th). Over 100 groups from all over the world are scheduled to perform, including Grammy-nominated Aja Monet, drummer, beatmaker and exploratory mixtape artist Makaya McRaven, bassist Christian McBride and his band, saxophonist Ravi Coltrane, harpist-singer Sophye Soliveau and tenor saxman J.D. Allen.

Shows take place at over a dozen venues throughout the city, like Le Poussin Rouge, right here in the Village, City Winery, Mercury Lounge and Zinc Bar.

Tix to individual shows start at $30, but you can buy a day pass for $85, or a two-day marathon pass from $155-$265. A marathon pass enables you to hit all the shows on a given night at various venues--forty in all--scheduled in Manhattan on Friday and Brooklyn on Saturday.
