Summer for the City at Lincoln Center

July 01, 20241 min read

Lincoln Center is back with Summer for the City, the best outdoor summer festival the city has to offer for New Yorkers and visitors alike.

The organizers have set up over 200 free or pay-what-you-wish events through August 10th. You can expect dance classes, outdoor concerts, wellness workshops (tai chi!), film screenings, and storytimes for the little ones. Get down on social dance nights (mambo, ballroom, The Lindy, to name a few) and silent discos under a ginormous 10-foot-wide disco ball. Comedy will come courtesy of Lizz Winstead, Aasif Mandvi, Hari Kondabolu and others. Hip-hop, classical, jazz, even cumba music is on the menu.

Some highlights:

  • India Week, in July, celebrates the beauty and vibrancy of Indian culture through its music, dance, art, cuisine and more.

  • The Dream Machine, five distinct game-like interactive performances featuring the iconic Nona Hendryx.

  • BAAND Together, a dance festival featuring five of NYC's most celebrated dance companies: Ballet Hispánico, Alvin Ailey, American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet and Dance Theatre of Harlem.

  • Big Umbrella Day (July 6) shares unique approaches to multi-sensory, interactive and engaging artistic experiences, designed for neurodiverse audiences.

Tickets aren't needed--just show up!
