Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree By the Numbers

December 04, 20231 min read

80....feet tall.

43...feet wide.

12 tons...yep, that's how much this Norway spruce weighs.

80-85 years old.... this tree has been around a long time!

50,000 multi-colored LED lights.....or five miles worth, will decorate its branches.

900 pounds...that's how much the Swarovski star weighs that will sit at its top. The star is made up of 3 million crystals!

0 waste...at the end of the season, the tree will be chopped up and its wood will be milled into lumber for Habitat for Humanity.

The official tree lighting takes place this Wednesday, November 29th, at 8 PM, complete with live music and performers! If you can't make it here, you can catch the TV special on NBC at 8. Musician Kelly Clarkson will host the show, and will be joined by TODAY co-anchors Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, Al Roker and Craig Melvin.

But if you're planning to visit us during the holiday season (and we hope you will!) , the tree will be lit from 5 AM to midnight through mid-January. (On Christmas Day, the tree will be lit for 24 hours; New Year's Eve from 5 AM to 9 PM.)
