Oh, but you're a brave one, venturing out to the center of the world to ring in 2025.
For the intrepid amongst us, here's the skinny:
The fun starts at 6 PM, when the ball is lit and raised, but if you plan to attend, get there as early as possible! Revelers begin to gather in the afternoon, as space is only available on a first-come, first served basis, on Broadway between 43rd and 50th Sts. (But you can see it as far up as 59th St.)
Designated entry locations are:
6th Avenue - 38th, 49th, 52nd, 54th, 58th, 59th streets
7th Avenue - 37th, 57th streets
8th Avenue - 38th, 49th, 52nd, 55th, 58th, 59th streets
Broadway - 37th, 57th streets
The best view can be had inside the area known as the "bowtie" (where Broadway and 7th Ave. intersect.) Remember that you'll be surrounded by around a million people, and by surrounded, we mean squished. And take note that when nature calls, you can't get back in. (Alas, there are no public toilets.)
So that's the bad news. The good news? Festive purple and silver hats will be passed out, along with yellow balloons tied with gold mylar ribbons, and illuminated necklaces, all gratis. The official Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest begins at 8 PM and will last until 2025 begins. Rita Ora is set to co-host with Seacrest.
Performers this year include Alanis Morisette (celebrating the 30th anniversary of her Jagged Little Pill album by performing the monster hit You Oughta Know, Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood, Cody Johnson, Megan Moroney, Jonas Brothers, Kesha, Lenny Kravitz, TLC, Dasha, Ernest, Hardy, Luis Fonsi and more. Ja Rule, Fat Joe, Slick Rick and Doug E. Fresh will join DJ Cassidy onstage for his "Pass the Mic Live!" set.
Honestly? It might be better to cozy up in your room, turn on ABC and see Seacrest, or CNN to catch bosom buddies Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen do their thing, and drink to your good fortune not to be freezing your ass off!
