Meatless Monday

Meatless Monday

November 07, 20231 min read

We're not vegetarians every day, but some days? Oh, yeah. I mean, have you tried Chef Yoel Cruz's mixed grain bowl or wild mushroom ravioli at North Square? If not, please do yourself a favor and order it the next time you dine here--we swear you'll never miss the meat

Prepared properly, vegetarian food can be to die for. That's why we want to check out The Burger Supremacy, touted as, "New York City's fiercest plant-based burger competition." V Spot Organic in the East Village is hosting the fete next Monday, March 25th, from 7 to 9 pm.

So what will be available to taste? At least eight plant-based burgers, both everyday and fancy pants gourmet. Flavors fro all over the world tucked into a bun, as a matter of fact. Chefs set to compete include caterer Chef Kasey, a vegan chef who incorporates flavors from her travels to Costa Rica, Ghana and other far-flung locations in her company Wakemia. And Darlene Lawrence from Jamaican catering fave Sands Jerk Hut. Marty's V Burger ("Fast Food. No Bull"), pictured above, will offer up its best. Asian meatless deliciousness will be represented by Spicy Moon Vegetarian Szechuan.

The $25 ticket will get attendees samples of all of the competing burgers, plus organic chips and salsa. Sangria, margaritas and micheladas (beer, lime juice and spicy seasonings--we didn't know either) will be available for purchase.

Sounds like a fun and inexpensive dinner out, to us! Check it out!
