Nothing says spring in New York City than the sight of blooming cherry blossoms. They're gaw-geous, we tell you! (Washington D.C.'s got nothing on us.) The blooming commences in late March/early April and lasts through May.
Head to the Reservoir and the Bridle Path that encircles it in Central Park at 90th St. for prime viewing. Also the east side of the Boathouse at 74th St. and the East Drive at 66th St., as well as by Belvedere Castle (mid-park by 79th St.)--all places to catch a view.
The Brooklyn Botanic Garden contains 26 species of the cherry blossoms. Check out their Hanami Nights, evening events filled with music and activities (April 22-25).
The New York Botanical Garden is also blooming! Some of the best locations within the gardens to find both white and pink blossoms include Daffodil Hill, the Arthur and Janet Ross Conifer Arboretum and the End A. Haupt Conservatory.
And here's our favorite: Riverside Park has its very own Cherry Walk, a four-mile-long path along the Hudson River that spans from 72nd St. to 158th St. (The bulk of the cherry trees are located between 100th and 125th Sts.
Happy Viewing!
