Grand Central Holiday Train Show

Grand Central Holiday Train Show

November 06, 20231 min read

We feel like little kids every year when we go to the Grand Central Holiday Train Show. This is the 18th year and it promises to be bigger and better than ever.

It's located in the New York Transit Museum's Grand Central Gallery and will remain there through February 23rd, so there's plenty of time to catch it.

So what will you find? A miniature electric railroad running over, through, and beneath some of New York's most iconic landmarks. The trains depart, appropriately, from a miniature Grand Central station and ultimately ends up at the North Pole.

The shows collection includes replica Metro North trains, Polar Express and vintage subway train sets.
And guess what? It's free! You can find it just off the Main Concourse in the Shuttle Passage of the station, adjacent to the Station Master's office. (It sounds complicated to find, but believe us, it's not.)

Once you're done gawking at the trains and ogling the Grand Central celestial ceiling, hit the dining course for a simple (Shake Shack, Magnolia Bakery) or fancy (Michelin-starred Agern) bite to eat. And of course, you can't forget the historic Oyster Bar down on the lower level.

Hope everyone's having a great weekend!
