Cocktails With a View

It's summer, people! Time to head outdoors and...drink! Read on to learn about a few of the best local rooftop bars in the area.

The Brass Monkey in the Meatpacking District is a tad less crazy than the usual bars in the neighborhood, and a great spot for happy hour. (Some may recognize the place as one of the ladies' favorite hangouts in Sex and the City.) The vibe is casual and the prices reflect that: beers start at $7 and glasses of wine at $11. The killer view of the Hudson is free. Just try to go early to beat the post-ten p.m. crowds.

If you're spending an afternoon at the Whitney Museum, why not head to the top floor and have a drink and take in the views of the Hudson and the High Line from the Studio Café? Small sandwiches like brie and strawberry jam on multigrain bread or a ham and cheese croissant can be had for $9. Craft beers cost around 10 bucks and wine starts at $13.

There are three bars at the Time Out Market in Dumbo, but head to the rooftop one for the cool views. Check out both the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan skyline while sipping on one of their signature drinks or beers from Brooklyn Brewery. FYI the Time Out Market is new and comprised of 21 "food concepts" to chow down on, so you'll have plenty to choose from post-cocktail.

If you find a rooftop bar that you like, let us know!
