A Day in Brooklyn

A Day in Brooklyn

November 07, 20232 min read

We just love spring, 'cuz it's opening season for all of the best stuff New York City has to offer.

We also love Brooklyn, and this weekend you can eat, drink, shop and take in a scary flick all in one building.

Listen up:
The Brooklyn Made Market will pop up in the City Point building this weekend (April 13th and 14th). Over 60 of Brooklyn's most exceptional makers, artisans and small business will come together to share their wares, BK style. Shoppers can expect to find handmade candles from Cave Glow Studio, unique tees from Da Spot NYC, clothes for the kiddos courtesy of Anise & Ava and more.

All that shopping will make you hungry, but there's no need to step outside. Just mosey over to the  DeKalb Market Food Halland nab bites from the Arepa Lady, jerk fish from Likkle More or a pork jowl sandwich from Bunsmith.

We all know what comes next: cocktails! Yippee!

Sip a Lolita Nymph (Brooklyn gin, orange and basil shrub, orange blossom) at the House of Wax, as you gaze at their rare selection of waxwork sculptures featuring life-size, realistic displays of anatomy, pathology, anthropology and even death masks of celebrities who are no longer with us. (Eek!)

Lastly, take in a flick at the Alamo Drafthouse, where the grub and drinks are just as much a part of the movie as the actors themselves. Wash down your fried pickles or Ethiopian Berbere wings with a Tecate or Shiner Bock. This weekend, moviegoers can check out Pet Sematary or Us (nope, not us--too scared at Nupita Nyong'o's voice--next) along with other flicks.

Again, all this is in one building--so cool. Sounds like a great weekend to us!
