Christmastime in the city--does it get any better than that?
A few years ago, The New Yorker compiled film and videos of the season taken for the past 90 years, and when you watch it, you'll see that the old adage--the more things change, the more they stay the same--rings oh-so-true for the holidays in New York.
Ice skaters in Rockefeller Center, gliding beside the always-magnificent tree. Cozy carriage rides through Central Park. Those oh-so-amazing department store Christmas windows. Santa soliciting gifts for the needy.
Yeah, the cameras are noticeably different (How could anyone in 1940 possibly imagine a camera that was a phone???)
But one thing holds true: Christmas in New York is magical every year, for children and adults alike.
